　　在前一季里面，为了摆脱仇杀，杰克（基弗·萨瑟兰 Kiefer Sutherland 饰）利用计谋脱离，隐姓埋名过着普通的生活。然而，随着前总统大卫·鲍尔默（丹尼斯·海斯伯特 Dennis Haysbert 饰），前同事米歇尔（蕾可·艾尔丝沃斯 Reiko Aylesworth 饰）和托尼（ 卡洛斯·博纳德 Carlos Bernard 饰）相继被杀，最后一位知道杰克还活着的同事克洛伊（玛丽·莱恩·莱杰斯库 Mary Lynn Rajskub 饰）也受到了死亡威胁。不得已，克洛伊拨通了杰克的电话，想找他寻求帮助。而在克洛伊和杰克见面时，杀手出现，杰克最终以不凡的伸手抓住了追杀他们的人。并从其口中逼问出，原来刺杀前总统是他们的主要任务，其他目标只是为了能将调查的矛头指向杰克，让杰克成为这次刺杀任务的替罪羊。杀掉前总统，目的也是为了灭口，不想前总统公布某些事情。那前总统到底想说什么呢？杰克不得不抛弃目前的平淡生活，再次卷入一场惊天阴谋中。

　　新一季将聚焦2001年美国炭疽攻击事件，该事件是在美国发生的一起从2001年9月18日开始为期数周的生物恐怖袭击。从2001年9月18日开始有人把含有炭疽杆菌的信件寄给数个新闻媒体办公室以及两名民主党参议员。这个事件导致五人死亡，17人被感染。直到2008年最主要的嫌疑人才被公布。金大贤饰演一名擅长微生物学的FBI特工，戈德温饰演一名陆军生物学家，该角色根绝真实人物布鲁斯·艾文斯的经历改编。

Rounding out the team is Aiden Burn, a smart and sexy investigator whose chameleon-like behavior allows her to adapt to any situation at any time. These skilled investigators, who see New York City in a whole different light, follow the evidence as they piece together clues and eliminate doubt to ultimately crack their cases.
