　　本剧改编自Bernard Cornwell的“Warlord Chronicles”三部曲中的第一部《凛冬王》。
　　《凛冬王》被定位为对亚瑟王传说的修正主义改编，讲述Arthur Pendragon从一个被抛弃之人，成长为了传奇的战士和领袖。故事背景为5世纪， 早于英国统一之前，发生在一个充满敌对派系和部落的土地上，那时的世界十分残酷，生命往往转瞬即逝。
